Computer Systems Recap

 Part 1: The case
In these 3 ICT lessons, we learned about the computer and how it works. We learned about the hard drive, the motherboard, the power supply, the fan and the on/off button (which didn't really work well). We put all the components inside the case of the computer with the exception for the on/off button which did not fit so we had to just plug it in and leave the case cover open.

Part 2: The software
Our next part of this unit is that we had to install Linux (operating system) for it to work and try use the applications like Word and Firefox. To install Linux, all we had to do was insert the disk for Linux, got the computer to look in the disk drive and it showed a screen to install (we left the lesson before it finished installing because it was time).

Part 3: IP Addresses
Our last lesson with the computers was about the network (internet, routers, etc...) and what it is about. We first tried to find out IP addressees were, next we learned about the domain name and IP addresses of other websites (domain names are for humans to use, IP addresses is how the computer figures out the website) and then we used installed "finger" into it (I don't remember what it does because Lewis was at the computer).
